"Yes." Was all the answer the Question provided to Miss Hale. Magician. Scratch that. Sorceress. Rumor had it that her family was the real deal. Q had his reservations. But with her in his little cabal he could probe further to find out just what her angle was.
The faceless man turned his head slowly to take in all of those he'd gathered here today. It wasn't a required gesture but most people were unnerved that he never faced them when speaking. "Then this is perfect for you, Huntress." Q quipped coolly. He reached into his overcoat and drew out a large manila folder. It could have been purchased from any store and was free of any prints. This wasn't his first time among so called detectives. With a flick of his wrist he swept the folder the length of the desk. 8x10 glossy photos slid out and sprawled haphazardly across the faux wood surface.
"Those of you with a television will recognize these." He began with no emphasis to any particular syllable. His voice almost bored. "The attack of this supposed Norse Deity and the United States Government's response. Codenamed: The Avengers." The pictures were ripped right from the headlines but some of them were the unedited photos showing all of it in its bloody glory.
"The Government has put together a team." Even though he was looking away, his eyes were fixed on Arsenal. The Agent. "With some very interesting choices." He picked up a photo of Green Arrow notching his bow. He tossed it back onto the table and it took center stage. "A shift in personal doctrine."
"And he's not the only one." Question snagged another photo, this time it was of Batman being carried by another team member. His eyes zeroed in on Nightwing towards the back of the room. Was he piecing it together? Was he asking the right questions? "He looks rather solid for an urban legend." Again Question dropped the photo on the desk. His hand slipped back into the pockets of his overcoat and he regarded the room.
