Who: General Nick Fury OT (Avengers and Reporters) NPCs: National Press Corps When: June 6th, Wednesday Morning Where: Washington D.C. What: Press Conference for the Avengers Rating: PG Notes:As Kim so eloquently put
It took a unique soldier to leave the trenches and face the bombardment of the national press corps where reputations were killed everyday. Most had ways of coping, rehearsing prepared statements before a press conference like some of the military brass stationed here in Washington. Nick Fury however wasn’t phased by a few questions, despite the fact his world was built upon extremely sensitive information. It would take more than a couple of reporters to frighten mama Fury’s baby boy.
Striding in from stage left, his entrance was marred with the clatter of dozens of camera shutters as his picture was taken several hundred times. He situated himself behind the podium, his left hand resting on the edge of the slanted surface. “Good Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen.” He greeted the large crowd gathered before him. His posture was casual, his free hand resting at his hip where a pistol would have been on most uniformed officers. He chose not to carry a weapon at his hip while in his military dress uniform.
"Thank you all for coming.” He said with a smile, his eye adjusting to the random flash of a camera or the glare of the lights on either side of the room. Emblazoned on the back drop behind him was the logo for S.H.I.E.L.D. “Three days ago a hostile force attacked S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Helicarrier along with key strategic locations just outside of Gotham City. The identity of the attacker will not be released at this time until the motive can be ascertained. The battle was hard fought, as evidenced by the hours of video footage obtained during the battle. But thanks to a team brought together by S.H.I.E.L.D. the threat was neutralized. Codenamed The Avengers, the team is a response to the growing threat of super crime and super terrorism that faces our world today. I know most of you have questions regarding the line up of this team and it's line up. Now that the situation has been dealt with and repairs are underway, the time for these questions is now.”
