Pepper slowly came closer, wincing as he turned and she got a look at his side. Logically, she knew he was okay. But watching the battle on the news Saturday had been a horrible experience. She had seen him fight before; had been there with him in the suit more than once. She'd sent him off to find caches of weapons and greeted him coming him.
But she'd never sat at home and watched him fight on television, unable to get to him. No matter how much she trusted him, Tony was reckless, brave, and stupidly heroic. She hadn't felt so helpless since he'd been lost in the desert - somewhere else beyond her reach.
"What can I -" Pepper stopped, clearing her throat. Closing her eyes, she gave her head a shake to put her thoughts back in order. She did not ask him. He needed her right now, this was no time for her to lose it.
Lacing her fingers through those of the hand still within her reach, she gave him a soft tug. "Come on," Pepper said gently. "JARVIS, would you start the jacuzzi, please?"
