The only part that came as a surprise at this point was the last... that Cheshire wanted to go straight. Both eyebrows shot up, her expression incredulous, but but Dinah worked to control that gut reaction by rubbing one eye and drinking more coffee.
Dinah wanted to tell him to not be an idiot- that Chesh was absolutely rotten to the core; a sociopath of the first degree, that putting her anywhere near Lian without bars or plate glass separating them was a horrible idea. The problem was there was no way she could know any of that for sure. And though Lian had female role models, Jade was still her mother- and always would be. Whether they wanted her to be or not, Jade was as much a part of this family as Roy or Connor or Mia or Dinah herself.
For all the horrible, wicked things Jade had done, she had also done something so perfect and right that even Dinah couldn't write her off entirely.
Besides, Dinah knew better than most what it was to fall in love with someone you shouldn't have fallen in love with.
She let out a heavy exhale, then looked over at Roy again, "Do you think she can stick to it?" Dinah had no doubt that Jade meant everything she said, in some way shape or form-- the trick was if she had the determination to see it through, to give up her old ways for good.
