His hug communicated so much to her: his innate desire to protect her (as ironic as it was) coupled with his gentleness. He seemed to treasure her, but there was also an element of uncertainty, as if he wasn't sure whether or not he deserved her, or he didn't know when he would see her next.
There was a saddening bit of finality to his hug that gave her pause.
[Quiet enough for now,] she replied after she stepped back from him. Reaching into a pouch on her belt, she held up the sunshine-shaped necklace he had given her at the Gotham Heights Prom. [I still have this,] she gestured, then held it tightly against her chest, over the bat-symbol and -- more importantly -- her heart. [I take it with me.]
Putting the necklace back in her pouch, she glanced around at the rooftop. [So what do you do, all alone here at night? Watch for me?] The movement of her hip suggested she liked that idea.
