Park Row was one of the many places where Batgirl's patrol route intersected with others in the Batfamily. Besides being a neighborhood with special significance to Batman, it was also one of the most crime-ridden parts of Gotham. Or at least, it used to be. These days, with various vigilantes coming and going, the criminal element didn't have much of a chance anymore to start their brand of trouble.
Batgirl patrolled this neighborhood with all the due importance her adoptive father ascribed to it; she understood why it held such importance for him, so she tended to bring her A-game whenever something went down here.
That, and Dr. Leslie Thompkins was a friend of the family. Cassandra held a great fondness for the tough old woman. She enjoyed the rare occasions she got to actually be around Leslie. They had similar taste in tea, for instance.
But lately, she began to look forward to her visits to Park Row for a different reason. Doug had moved here, in the same building as Leslie. The previous night, she'd spotted him here on the rooftop, but before she could make her presence known, the sound of gunshots and sirens had pulled her away. This time, she emerged from the shadows, scuffing her boots along the rooftop just enough to get his attention.
[Brave Stupid Boy,] she greeted him with the familiar gestures, before pulling him into a hug.
