Reed chuckled as Sue headed off, apparently to retrieve one of his gifts. While he waited, Reed took of his suit jacket and draped it over the back of the couch. He was just sitting down to remove his shoes when Sue came back in with the package. As he unwrapped it, Reed couldn't help but grin, guiltily.
Sue hated smoking. Reed knew this. Ben knew this. Johnny made puns about this. But occasionally Reed and Ben would sneak down to the lab and lock the door and smoke either cigars or a pipe (a habit Reed had picked up from his father) and would pretend that Sue didn't know what was going on-- and graciously, Sue would pretend that she didn't know either. "Ahh... I suppose I've been caught." Reed said, a laugh still hanging in his throat. "I'll not incriminate my partner in crime by saying anything other than that I'm sure he'll be expecting me to share the loot."
Carefully Reed set the box on the coffee table and reached out for Sue's hand, giving a gentle tug to pull her into his lap. "Thank you, darling."
