His voice sounded so strange, so different. It was warm and deep, and as he held her Selina couldn't help but lean into him for a moment, simply inhaling his scent. It calmed her a little, just to be next to him, to feel his warmth. He loved her. He loved her. Selina pulled herself back from him again, out of his arms to sit back in the chair. She wiped at her face again, trying to compose herself.
"I need to be alone for a while -- just give me a little break."
Selina stood up in one fluid motion, her legs feeling like jelly, her hands trembling slightly. She wanted to seem normal, but her body betrayed the emotions overpowering her underneath. Her mask, both of her masks had crumbled in front of him and she didn't quite know how to deal with it.
"You don't need to leave, I'll just -- I'm going to go to my room." There was an apologetic tone in her voice as she spoke, sniffing up slightly as she moved past him.
"--And don't go anywhere. Please. Just --" She turned to look at him, her eyes intent.
"Just don't go."
She need to process it all. She needed a drink. A big drink. Selina walked away, grabbing the bottle of wine from the table as she moved through the suite. She couldn't look back at him again. She was scared that she would cry - because she loved him too.
