The words echoed in her mind as he turned her face slowly. Love? Selina hadn't heard that word in a long time. Not since her parents had died. Love had slipped through her fingers then and she didn't think she would hear the simple expression again. Certainly not from him. But there it was, a simple four letter word that made her heart race and her blood ignite in her veins. Selina leaned towards him placing her forehead against his, closing her eyes. Another single tear escaped down her cheek, but Selina remained silent, her lips firmly together, her breathing steady.
"This is a lot to take in." Her eyes flickered open to meet his, watching him carefully.
She felt vulnerable and alone, even though he was close to her. She was open, wide open. Selina felt as if he'd exposed her, her reactions didn't feel real - the whole situation felt absurd. She knew what she wanted to say but the words simply didn't feel right, her mouth wouldn't move in the way she wanted; her lips felt dry.
"Bruce -- I." Selina paused for for a moment, her forehead resting on his with a little more weight. She hoped that her mannerisms would speak for her, would convey how she was feeling. She wanted to tell him, but it was one line both her body and her mind wouldn't allow her to cross.
