She couldn't help the sharp intake of breath when he unbuttoned his shirt. Out of all the situations that she'd thought of where Bruce would remove his shirt - this had to be the least likely. He was a beautiful mess, almost like a work of art, a Jackson Pollock in human form. But it was the scars she saw running across his chest that made her want to gasp out loud, luckily her lips were firmly pursed together. She remembered that night vividly, as if it was yesterday. The anger she'd felt, the instant regret when she'd seen his blood. At eighteen she's been angry, very angry. Angry enough to strike out at the one man that dared try to stop her.
She'd been stupid. But she'd learnt.
And she'd never apologised...
As he grasped her hand gently and brought it to settle on his skin, she felt a lump suddenly rise in her throat. It felt alien and holy almost, touching him. But there it was, a constant reminder to him and a haunting memory for her. And he'd known. He'd always known what she was. What she was capable of - what she'd done. Selina felt the nausea flowing over her again as he touched her cheek softly. She wanted to speak, she wanted to ask questions, but her mouth was dry and useless. Instead she looked up at him as he spoke. He was right. She loved the lurch of falling, the snap in her body as she swung over the city...
Selina took another deep breath trying to steady herself. She could feel her eyes welling up - it was shock. It was anger. But strangely it was relief that was sweeping over her in waves.
"All of this time." she spoke with a flicker of deeper emotion. "All of time we've been living double lives. You know -- we both have. All this time I was so afraid...so stupid..." he pulled herself away from him, her body instinctively rejecting any comfort he would try and offer. She wanted it so badly, but it was hard -- so very hard to accept anything other than the punishment she felt that she always deserved. Her eyes might have been threatening tears, but they felt steely and cold.
"You know. You know everything, don't you? Everything about me..."
