Bart watched them shake hands then gave Mia a horror-stricken look which he tried desperately to hide before Kara noticed. "Y-y-okay." He stammered as Mia walked away.
He turned to stare at K-k-Kara and tried to think of something to say (and to spit it out) before she got bored/annoyed and left. The music quieted right as he opened his mouth and yelled, "SO KARA." The entire auditorium turned to look and Bart turned more red, glancing sideways at all the people now staring.
"uh. sorry. that was loud." He paused and tried again at the proper volume, "So, Ka--" just as the next song came on. If Bart was a cartoon character, the redness of his face would have boiled up and exploded into steam out the top of his head by now.
"Hold on!" He shouted again, and suddenly he was gone, running into one of the nearby classrooms where he stole a yellow piece of construction paper and wrote seven digits down in sharpie before dashing back to the dance. He was standing beside Kara again and this time he took her wrist and nodded towards once of the large dance circles that had formed.
Bart dropped Kara's hand when they got to the edge of the circle, but he kept going until he was in the center and commanding all of the attention. Bart took a split second pause to take a deep breath, shove down his blush and pointed to Kara before he started to do some of his inept, dorky Bart-dances and began to sing along (thankfully his voice was drowned out).
"Hey I just met you. And this is crazy. But here's my number. So call me maybe." He sang, pointing at Kara, holding up his sign with his phone number printed in big, bold letters. He started to add miming motions of dialing and holding up a phone as he sang more of the song, "It's hard to look right at you baby, but here's my number. So call me maybe."
