It was late, much later than she'd intended to be out. It wasn't that Zatanna didn't have anything to fear walking the Gotham streets alone, because she was just as susceptible of getting hurt as anyone else if she couldn't deflect trouble in time with a few well-spoken backwards utterances.
It was just that she didn't allow her fears to control her.
The sound of metal crunching and glass shattering sent a chill through her as she froze in the middle of the sidewalk. That certainly wasn't a good sound.
She moved quickly in the direction of the noise, eyes widening as she spotted the SUV wrapped around the light pole. From where she stood, she had a sinking feeling that whoever was in the vehicle hadn't survived. Hoping she was wrong, she darted closer, pausing as she stared in through the windshield at the two still figures who had smiles frozen on their faces.
