Re: Aftermath: Steph/Doug
He stared at her. "But you do know her," Doug retorted finally, folding his arms defiantly and trying to figure out what to even say. "I don't know how, and that's fine, this city runs on secrets and not all of them are bad."
He glanced to the side, looking up at the rooftops again. "And that makes two of us. I don't know who she is either, and that's part of what makes that... thing, over there so complicated. How do you even have a..." he glanced at Stephanie, then shook his head, "a relationsh- you know what, I think I'm going to take a page from your book and just not talk about it."
That was usually a page from his book. But he remembered, the last time he'd seen Batgirl, when she confronted him about Riddler, that there was some connection to Stephanie Brown. Were they actually friends? He'd only thought there was some kind of communication because her father had been a costumed criminal, but maybe there was more to it.
"She has a name for you, by the way. It's kind of..." Doug made the gesture, [Stop Talking]. And then decided that was a good idea.
Of course now they were both standing there, with nothing to say and a silence in the middle that was practically shouting. He knew he wanted answers, and he could see in her own body language that she had questions too. Doug kept his arms folded.
