"Oh hush," she said and waved her hand at him. Jen was sympathetic to a lot of things, but being self-deprecating was not one of them, since she didn't have a self-deprecating bone in her body and generally handled herself with confidence. Being hit on by creepy people in bars, notwithstanding. But Roy was smart...ish. He was street smart, which was different, and something Jen definitely appreciated, since she considered herself a good mix of both. But she definitely knew he knew how to read and merely rolled her eyes at him for being ridiculous.
"You're just hoping I post certain pictures of myself on my blog, aren't you? I'm not falling for it."
She laughed when he broke the toothpick, because it was a funny coincidence, but took it at face value.
"Okay, sure, fair enough. Yeah, I don't want to talk about work either, or lack thereof. I just sent everything out the other day, so no I haven't heard back yet. But I figured I'd start while I have some downtime between school and graduating. So..." Jen sighed. "Its slow." Jen shrugged, "Ah well...I’m keeping busy."
That line of thinking was quickly put on hold for the moment while the bartender set out their drinks. "So, I take it you two aren’t really together?" The bartender, who had been witnessed to the whole debacle, asked, smirking to himself. "So, is this dutch then?" He wanted to know. "Or should I start a tab up?"
Jen was prepared to pay for her second drink when she looked at Roy and shrugged. It was up to him, if he wanted a tab. "Whatever you want to do."
