Younger than him, though she may be, Jennie was Guy's only hope, considering the cast of characters that normally traveled in their circle. Hal Jordan was straight out, which meant that meant Ollie was too (Did they even know each other, for that matter?) Also, Jen was pretty sure that Guy and John Stewart did not get along. Which left just Kyle... And while Jen was pretty sure Kyle could fit the bill, sometimes there were things that just needed a woman's touch. Like now. Like this. Hooking Guy up with a girl. And not just any girl, she needed to be vetted first, and Jen was all to happy to volunteer for the job.
Jennie was also smarter than her own good and knew when to joke and when to toe the line and even when to listen, like now. Jen nearly had to do a double take when he mentioned that he had been engaged before, but kept her surprise in check, picking up on things like "was engaged" as in "no longer engaged" and tipped her head thoughtfully. Usually there was some sad story to accompany things like this and Jen was all to happy to listen to Guy now. Sometimes people just needed to talk things out and then they could reach their own conclusion, although she secretly hoped not because she really wanted to meet this mystery woman who had ensnared Guy's heart!
"No, I had no idea," she said, wondering if there was more to that, but Happy to let Guy lead the conversation wherever he wanted. "I think people don't give you enough credit. And I'm not just saying that because you offered to buy me lunch," she added to inject some levity into the conversation so he wasn't just focusing on why he wasn't engaged any longer.
"I really mean that. I think you sell yourself short. She will, I'm sure of it. I will do my job properly," she said determinedly with a nod.
