Looking around the apartment had been a bust. But somehow Martha had had a sinking suspiscion that it might be. The odds of him staying at the apartment in a moment like this... Jack needed something more, he needed... the closest she could come up with in that moment was a feeling of freedom. To see the world below him as it was. She'd done that a few times, looking at the world from down below - back when she was still traveling with the Doctor. He'd let her do it once more when he'd shown up. It had been something of a birthday present. It really put things in perspective. Or sometimes... Sometimes it did.
Martha's first and only stop was the Hub. She'd tossed on clothes, noticed that Jack's SUV was missing. There really was only one real option. As much as she knew that he needed time, needed space, she didn't think that him being on his own like this would be good for him. Brooding with his thoughts...
The trip to the hub was a quiet one. She turned on the radio, trying to break herself out of her own thoughts, but it only served to distract her, and that wasn't what she wanted right now. At this hour there wasn't much traffic, getting there took less time than she thought it would.
Sometimes Martha wished there was a quieter way of getting into the Hub. But the klaxons went off and the door opened to reveal an empty hub. No sign of anything having been moved, nothing. Upon further inspection there was a light on in his office and Martha found herself standing in the doorway watching the man she loved for a moment before saying anything. Ianto's disappearance weighed on all of them, Martha missed him his disappearance had been like a knife to the side. But she was worried about Jack... extremely worried.
The question was what to say? What could she say? They'd done everything they could to try and pinpoint his location... "I thought you might be here..." her voice was quiet, not wanting to jar him from his thoughts. She took a small step into the office, leaning against the doorjam. Her stomach suddenly feeling a bit unsettled... which it had been doing lately.
