Days... weeks... almost months had gone by and Conner had yet to see the Earth outside of a Lex Corp laboratory or the Fortress of solitude. He learned all there was to learn from Brainiac, memorized the layout of the fortress and even counted the number of crystal stalagmites and stalactites. He was ready to leave, whether Clark had thought so or not. After so much time locked away he had begun to question why he allowed anyone to imprison him in the first place, let alone someone he didn't even know. It didn't matter. He held no loyalty to Superman and he was going to show him- he was going to show them all that he was his own man.
Though the young man did not have flying abilities of his own, he was able to travel and he chose to do so- even in the brutal weather conditions around the Fortress. He exited the crystal threshold, keeping his head high in the subzero winds and started running. He ran until there was a large body of water in front of him, then dived into the waters and swam far across to another continent thousands of miles away. When he climbed up out of the port, dripping with cool water and squinting in the sunlight, Conner followed a sign that pointed to "Star City."
