"He's not our Ianto," Jack replied with a little more force than he meant to. "He's a Ianto, yeah. But not ours. It's..."
Jack sighed in frustration and pinched the bridge of his nose. "It's complicated. Time travel always is, but you know that."
He froze though, hearing those four little words from her. Jack turned and looked at Martha, a slightly stunned expression on his face. He cared about her a lot, even loved her. But whenever someone said it to him, things got complicated. Problems happened.
It'd be different this time though. She knew he couldn't age, couldn't die, and that he was going to outlive her. But then again, so had some of the others... like Lucia. And that had ended badly.
Instead of replying back, Jack nodded and leaned in, kissing her firmly on the lips. He'd never even told Ianto that he loved him. And despite how he felt about Ianto and Martha both, he wasn't ready to say it out loud. Not to either of them.
"What's not to love?" he joked, breaking the tension and flashing that grin of his. "Come on... pizza should be here soon."
