Who: Poseidon and Demeter When: Ancient Greece What: Poseidon has yet to turn into the monster he becomes, he and Demeter still have a good relationship. Where: On the island of Ephyraea (Corinth)
The world was still young under the Olympian hands. Cronus was defeated but he still dwelled within the land. There were many Titans that did not approve of this new shift, but with Zeus as the new Lord over all, new rules were set. Poseidon had been one of the siblings devoured by Cronus, so there was this emptiness that had started to grow. It was still small, just a black spot embedded inside of him that would eventually fester and burst until he morphed into someone his kin couldn't recognize. A tyrant that would never take no for an answer. Right now it was still new, something he had yet to put his finger on. All this power was new.
Demeter was still his closest. He had not yet asked her to be his Queen but it was obvious that she would be his choice. Zeus had taken Hera, Hades would eventually chose his own bride. Poseidon wanted the one closest to him. Demeter was beautiful yes, but she understood her brother. She would be a great Queen. Land and sea, they worked together in the same way they did. His brothers had their own kingdoms, Poseidon was still building his underwater palace.
He met her on the isle of Ephyraea that afternoon where no humans yet inhabited. It would also later be a spot that he and the Titan Helios would fight over. The water had become a crystal blue, surrounding the islands of Greece with it's beauty. He had turned the seas into his own. Man would receive his first gift soon, which he patterned out of the waves. The sea foam galloped across the sand with great speed before before the waves washed back. Within them he toyed with their shape, creating what would be the first horse. It would not escape onto land until he'd fashioned the right look, but it was within reach. When the creation was ready, his seed would be their beginning.
His trident that had been forged by Hephaestus dug into the sand. A symbol of his godhood and reign. Demeter had assured him he would be a good king, if not the better of the three. He had potential with the seas.

[info]thesmophoros 2012-07-05 06:51 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This It was still the first days of a completely new life for Demeter. She had lived her whole life swallowed within the belly of her father along with her siblings, until youngest Zeus had cut them free. The first time she had seen her little brother he had held a bloody sickle. She thought he would be a good king from such a start.
Zeus was a mystery to her, unlike Hades and Poseidon. She knew them well, and she knew as well what she was here to do now. Where Gaia had once had dominion over the fields, now Demeter would take over that mantle. It was new to her but as soon as her hands sunk into the earth she knew it perfectly.
Today she came to meet her brother, smiling as she approached. It was strange to be apart from her siblings after a lifetime spent with them crushed so close. "Brother," she said. "How fare you in this bright new world?"

[info]neptune_storm 2012-07-05 03:22 pm UTC (link) Track This There was something melancholy about him. Part of him had gone missing when Cronus spat them out. Father had given to son that undying need to consume all that he wanted. It was just a flicker, but it was there. It put an ache inside of him, something he wasn't entirely familiar with. So much of their life had been spent struggling to stay alive inside of Cronus' belly, fighting as hard as their captor fought to keep them down. That stench was still present under Poseidon's nose. A rotten, nasty one that wouldn't dissipate with Cronus' defeat. He'd left a horrible mark on the young sea king and didn't even know it.
Zeus to Poseidon was equally as unnerving as his father. He too knew nothing of him. He'd released them but for what? His own gain. Poseidon already found Zeus arrogant, he didn't like him at all.
The waves crashed back down against the sandy beach when Demeter appeared. He felt everything inside light up. "I'm still getting used to the sun," he threw with a half smile, standing to greet her. He embraced her tightly, as if she would wash away all those dark thoughts that were starting to creep in.

[info]thesmophoros 2012-07-07 11:41 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Demeter accepted the embrace, wrapping her arms around her brother with a laugh of pleasure. There was so much new freedom now and they would be the ones with the power.
When Demeter drew back she shielded her eyes and looked up at the bright sun above. "It's new," Demeter agreed, trying to make out the shape of the god that pulled it through the sky. "I like it though, this light, it makes all things grow." Pointing to the sea she asked her brother, "what was it I saw in the waves there?"

[info]neptune_storm 2012-07-07 12:02 pm UTC (link) Track This She pulled back too soon. He wanted to draw her in again but he would not force it. He watched her though as she eyed their environment. That same sun baked their skin with its heat. What water had been pressed to his skin like a cloak was now dry.
The waves flattened against the beach, their fingers curling near thief feet. "A gift to this world." He smirked. Poseidon would create too. Of possible he would be an even greater king than thier own. He was inspired by the ocean and all its creatures. "It is not done. Not yet."

[info]thesmophoros 2012-07-07 12:51 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Demeter smiled brightly at his answer and then leaned in to whisper, gently teasing, "you'll not even show me? Just a little?"

[info]neptune_storm 2012-07-07 01:21 pm UTC (link) Track This Demeter had a way with Poseidon. He listened to her. He would listen to her and trust in her council before Zeus'. He trusted her. His lips pursed every so slightly as they broke into a very human smile. It would be one of the last times he would smile like that as their rule waned on.
He urged her to follow him back to the flat top rock he'd been planted on. Once again he pulled the wave toward them, forcing it to crash higher against the sand bank so he could show off the horse, still the color of the ocean.

[info]thesmophoros 2012-07-07 01:43 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This The sight drew a gasp of delight from Demeter and she clapped her hands. "Oh brother, it's beautiful already!" she told him. "Is it to be a beast of the land? It looks to have such fine, strong legs."

[info]neptune_storm 2012-07-07 01:53 pm UTC (link) Track This The legs were that of thick, overlaying muscles. Legs that could run. "It can run faster than any mortal man. It may even outrun a god." See Zeus create something so magnificent. It's neck was also thick, with a long coursing mane down it's back. "It is of the land." He would be the father of horses.
