"I was honestly getting a little tired of being alone with my own thoughts," Marian said with a slow wry smile, "so I like the sound of working together very much."
Even if she was crouching in the undergrowth silently, the presence of someone else might stop her thoughts going off onto tangents about Guy, and about how she'd done so poorly in that situation. What if she was lying in some morgue right now instead of in this beautiful forest? It had all been too close, and she'd been foolish to think it could be anything else.
