WHO: Demeter & Hades
WHEN: Ancient Greece
WHAT: Look at this tiny thing I made, brother!
Harvest time was coming close, the fields growing tall and golden when she came down from Olympus to behold them. But today's visit to the earth wasn't about her so much as the child in her arms: her tiny little boy, born just days ago, her first son.
She'd left the young Kore back on Olympus today under the watchful eye of her father, so it was just mother and son today. Smiling she sat among the sheafs as they drew away and then around her. The harvest recognised its queen and strove to be near her as she unclipped one of the shoulders of her peplos to feed her son.
The air was warm and the breeze gentle, Demeter running her fingers through the wheat near to her. She felt even more connected with her earth today.
When she left the field it was to move towards a cemetery. Most of her family had met this newest addition to the family, but there was one very important person who hadn't and she called for him now, drawing her golden sickle from the air with her free arm and beating the end of it thrice against the grave earth. "Lord Hades," she said, barely raising her voice, knowing he would hear her. "I wait for you, my brother."
