Who: Poseidon, Amphitrite and Guy of Gisborne What: Gala event, the new guy meets Amphitrite without knowing she's married. :O When: 10 years ago Where: Some fancy hotel or something Warnings: Cursing, threats, near neck snapping Notes: posting order can go whoever hits first?
It was now at least an hour and a half into the Gala event that Poseidon had forced his wife to attend. She looked radiant, but it didn't keep that wedding ring on his finger that night. Since moving to New York, the last few years had proved that there was a wall between them with no sign of coming down. Their fighting while fantastic when it meant it came to pushing and shoving in bed, had increased to a point where Poseidon more often than not just ignored it. Something had changed between them, and that obsession he usually had with her was fading. He was colder now than he'd been with her in years.
Dressed in his best, Poseidon had slipped out of view for the last half hour having caught sight of an intriguing blond while his wife mingled with the old and overstuffed business men. He'd also forced the new guy in line with a few others from the company to tag along. Maybe they'd learn a thing or two.
[info]sea_born 2011-01-21 09:03 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Amphitrite had noticed that change years before and from time to time she made a note to point it out to him. Poseidon, of course, was as stubborn as an octopus. As much as she hated that he slept around, all too publicly at times, she hated it even more that he hadn't worn his ring. It was enough for her to take off her own for the evening. If he wanted to play hardball, by the gods she would shove that ball right back into his hypocritical face.
She did look radiant. And she knew it. She had gone all out and got a new dress, new shoes, new jewelry and had even had her hair professionally done. It was pulled up elegantly with a few curls hanging purposefully in a few spots. The dress hugged her curves in just the right places, leaving little to the imagination.
While Poseidon had refused to let her mingle with anyone remotely attractive she waited for her opportunity to sneak away from this horrible group of old perverts, smiling and nodding apologetically as she slipped away. As she left she gave a little shiver and snatched a glass of wine from a tray as a waiter passed by. She noted Poseidon slipping off with another woman she she felt a sense of rage. Bastard.

[info]this_guy 2011-01-21 09:21 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Working for Poseidon was rather a rush to be honest but exhausting at the same time. It was always tiring to have to walk the edge of being forward but not getting yourself killed at the same time but he was enjoying it.
The gala was a chance to show his own feathers a little and it had proved he was earning trust where he was. Dressed in something better than his normal suits...per instructions...he was prowling the room to get a feel of it before committing himself to any one conversation. His boss was sniffing after a rather luscious blonde so he would probably be occupied for a few minutes.
And there were other fish here in the sea...like the one he made a line toward to see if he could catch her eye.

[info]sea_born 2011-01-21 09:47 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Amphitrite was torn between standing around and feeling awkward and going to see what was taking so long with her darling husband and his choice of slut.
Her choice, however, was made for her. She was simply looking around, smiling and nodding and waving here and there to keep up appearances. While many of the people there knew who she was this knew man coming toward her would have no idea. That made it all the more exciting.
She offered him a smile as he approached, very much aware that it was she he was walking toward and not someone else. What was even more interesting was the feeling she got from him. She would let him make the first move.

[info]this_guy 2011-01-21 09:52 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select She'd smiled and hadn't turned away to find someone else to seem interested in so he continued up to her with a smile of his own. There was something about her that stood out from the others but it was too crowded for him to immediately get the sense of what she was.
"Seems a crime to have such a lovely lady all by herself." He let his accent come out fully knowing the women seemed to like a man with an accent.

[info]sea_born 2011-01-23 04:08 am UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select She was determined to get back at Poseidon in some way. Even if it was just flirting with another man. He had to know she wouldn't be serious in her flirtations with those business men who had been chatting her up, but this one that approached her. He had potential. And he was certainly attractive.
She grinned, "Cheesy. But cute." It was true. Even Amphitrite appreciated those sexy accents. "I've never seen you at these events. You must be new."

[info]this_guy 2011-01-23 02:20 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select He grinned a little because sometimes the old and cheesy still worked the best as pick up lines for some reason. And the fact that she didn't fall for it blushing and giggling meant she was a lot better of a person to talk to...or at least he wouldn't be wishing the whole time she'd just shut up.
"Yes, this is my first gala...actually just started a couple of weeks ago. I do plan to be around a while so hopefully I'll see more of them." He shifted where he was standing so they were closer together and a little closed off from the rest of the crowd so people would be less likely to try to join in talking to them.

[info]sea_born 2011-01-24 02:51 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Had she not been in a mood to piss off Poseidon she would have turned the other cheek. This poor guy was nothing more than an innocent bystander caught between the waves of two jealous lovers. But he didn't need to know that.
"They're horrible and boring. Fat men trying to get their rocks off on women who are out of their league. At least they have plenty of alcohol to numb it all," she grinned and sipped her wine. She allowed that change in distance, casually glancing as though to sweep the room but really checking the place Poseidon and his slut had disappeared to. When she didn't see him she returned to this one, "Make sure you plan your own after party."

"Oh I have one planned for after already. These things usually leave you ready for something without suits and pretensions after. Of course you're invited if you'd like."

[info]sea_born 2011-01-24 03:18 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Amphitrite grinned at that, "Their stuffed wives could. Not that all of them are fat. There's always a closeted gay man in the crowd. Just spot him before he spots you." She winked at that.
Her brow lifted just a fraction, "We'll see how the evening goes first." It wasn't exactly a 'no' but it wasn't her jumping into the bandwagon of cheaters and sluts.

A lot of the wives that wanted to hit on him unfortunately were old enough to be the Crypt Keeper. The younger ones were all trophy wives that weren't secure enough to sleep around for fear of losing their money.
She got a chuckle for her answer and a smile that wasn't insulted or too hopeful either. He wasn't trying too hard to get under her dress but if it happened he certainly wouldn't complain. "I only put the offer out there. No pressure involved...actually just having someone to make fun of some of the crowd with is worth its weight in gold right now."

At that she actually scanned the crowd for an example and stopped when she saw one. "I like being able to make expressions. Then again, we never age so we have nothing to worry about." She took the opportunity to bring it up first. If he hadn't felt her power by then then perhaps he wasn't worth her time.
She grinned, "Oh, I know. I just have to determine whether you're worth my time, Mr..." she waited for him answer that.

She hated it at time, and other times she was glad they still believed in her. "Au naturel, yes? It's much better than being plastic. I'd rather not be compared to a doll."
She grinned, "I wouldn't say that's forgetting your manners. Heat of the moment tends to do that to people. You can call me Amy." It was a simple play on her name and she wasn't about to give out her fake one. Out of the corner of her eye she could see Poseidon surfacing, but just to make sure she glanced around once again. This time it was to pretend they wouldn't be seen as she grabbed his hand, "This way," she lead him into another room, making sure Poseidon had seen.

[info]neptune_storm 2011-01-24 08:22 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Poseidon had emerged, buttoning his jacket and straightening his tie. The blond he'd wandered off with had emerged just about five minutes earlier, having spent the last thirty minutes missing from the sea of people in a back room with his pants down and the blond on her knees.
While there were no lipstick smudges on his face, or much of a perfume on his collar, Amphitrite no doubt had seen him sneak off as she was attempting to do the same herself. He saw her. His eyes narrowed into a foreboding glare. He elbowed his way past colleagues a more than sinister grin on his face when he caught up to the two, shoving the door open to the room before it could be shut.
"Going somewhere?" he said in a husky voice, eyes shooting over to Amphitrite, a cold hand on Guy's shoulder. There was something eerie about his presence now, something deadly. "Having fun?" he taunted, raising a brow, not yet letting Guy know exactly who he was choosing to sneak off with.

It's obvious he's done something to piss the sea god off but be damned if he knew what it was. It was best at this point to play the middle of the line innocent or clueless person and hope he could get a clue what was wrong.
"I was just talking to Amy here sir." The hand was still on his shoulder which was a bad position to be in. He glanced at the woman he'd been talking to trying to get a clue why the shark seemed to be nibbling on his ass now. "It's been a little slow for business deals so far."

[info]sea_born 2011-01-24 09:28 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select And there is was. The reaction she had been expecting. The sheer looming presence of her hypocritical, jealous husband. She sighed, rolling her eyes at him, "Just talking, Poseidon. Stop churning the waters." Clearly, they knew each other.
She had let go of Guy's hand the moment Poseidon had joined in. She hadn't even jumped when her husband demanded an answer out of them. Nothing about her suggested she had been touched, but everything about her suggested she had been flirting.
Crossing her arms, she stared right back without an ounce of worry in her face. "What do you want, dear?" Had Poseidon not seen them she might have done things she would have regretted.

[info]neptune_storm 2011-01-24 09:47 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select It was the very idea of her with another man that enraged him. There was a stifling release of breath, his hand clamping even tighter on Guy's shoulder. His head twitched to the side, those thin lips curving into a unamused smile.
"See, this is the part you find out she's married," he said jerking guy back against him so he could talk right into his ear. He clicked his tongue, those cold eyes still glued to Amphitrite, his voice nothing more than the lowest of growls. "Your husband wouldn't be too happy, no, I'm sure you wouldn't dare want me to tell him you've been so stupid."
Dear. She'd said it now. How would Guy react now? Would he bend and beg like a little girl?
"For you to step out of this room, darling." Guy was just stuck in the middle of these lover's jealous games.
Both hands rested on his shoulders, he was feeling very much in the mood for snapping a neck.

[info]this_guy 2011-01-24 10:59 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select There was an involuntary wince as the hand tightened. Poseidon's fingers were digging into his trapezius like a Vulcan death pinch right now. Only instead of passing out it was more like his arm was slowly going dead.
"...married..." Well that would have been bad enough with the way his boss was reacting but then she called him 'dear'. Oh crap in a hat the woman was married to Poseidon. He was a fucking dead man! At this point he said fuck it and decided to take the non whimper like a baby option..although he was certainly keeping it in reserve.
"Well I didn't know she was married...and I guess you know I have good taste in women at least."
Yeah he could practically hear his neck snapping now.

[info]sea_born 2011-01-25 05:47 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Amphitrite hesitated. As bad as her intentions had been she hadn't meant for Guy to end up murdered and in several pieces in a dark alley. Or Central Park. Wherever Poseidon left dead bodies these days.
"Of course not. We were talking. There is nothing wrong with that, is there?" Loaded question, but she knew Poseidon would find some reason she shouldn't even talk to other men, even if it was completely innocent. She looked stony and like she wasn't going to move. Right now it seemed like a pretty good option. Then again, she knew Poseidon.
"He's telling the truth. He had no idea." She wasn't wearing her ring, which she rarely took off herself. But tonight it had been in retaliation for Poseidon not wearing his anymore. Just that she was attempting to defend someone else showed her own realization in her mistake.
But he wasn't going to back down and she knew that. She left grudgingly, without another word.

"Not at all," there was arrogance in his voice, he was already unnerved to listen to anything she had to say. It's what she wanted wasn't it? "Go chew on some old man's leg for a minute will you, darling?" He smiled very unsympathetically.
Poseidon motioned with his head for Amphitrite to retreat whether or not he had an explanation. It didn't matter one way or another, this guy was going to be a pile of rubble on the floor if he felt like it. When Amphitrite was gone he took his hands off Guy's shoulders.
"Oh, bad move Guy. If you don't want your throat ripped out through your ass, I suggest some begging starting now. If I'm feeling generous I might let you off the hook, but right now," he laughed again eerily. "Your future's looking none too bright."

[info]this_guy 2011-01-26 02:57 am UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Damn it of all the people at the party he had to pick Poseidon's wife who wasn't wearing a wedding ring and apparently wanted to poke at her husband's ego or something.
"You'd never respect a beggar sir. Maybe you'll kill me for making an honest mistake but that's the chance I'll have to take. If I get on my knees to beg forgiveness...well that's not the kind of man you need me to be working here is it?"
He did have to admit to the cold trickle of sweat working its way down his back as he waited to get torn apart in very painful and unpleasant ways. His employer might let him survive if he begged but he'd lose the ground he'd gained working here and be at worse than square one along with being out on the street. It was a horrible gamble to have to make.

"Arrogant little bastard still aren't you?" He was pushing buttons, buttons that had already been pressed by Amphitrite. His fist was cocked, and he could have easily slammed his face into the wall with that fist.
He paused with a grin that was all too maniacal to be considered a grin. He clicked his tongue. He'd do better than break his face, he'd bind him in an unwritten contract. Sniveling little rat wouldn't know his ass from his head until he said so.
He slammed Guy up against the wall, straightening out his collar. "When I say beg you crawl. When I say dance, you better fucking dance." Poseidon's eyes narrowed. "If one finger had been laid on that woman you would have been kissing a 60 foot drop in the ground. That's one screw up I won't tolerate. Next time I pull your strings you better be wearing your best shoes." His stare was cold, hands still bracing that collar as if he was still feeling the urge to break it. The very floor beneath them moved in a tremor enough to make his point.

He slapped the boy's cheek a few times. "Get out of here and whore yourself out to some other rich man's wife." Poseidon raised a brow, not letting the kid go just yet.
"One more thing," he motioned a finger for him to come closer slamming his fist into Guy's face before standing up straight and fixing the lapels of his jacket.
