Who: William Shakespeare and Clio
What: First meetings, first Muse!
When: 1590's
Where: Streets of London
Warnings: TBA
Note: Reposted as a favour
His hands were covered in ink, his shirt un-tucked from his breeches and trunk hose as he scowled the streets of London. Not even the pint at the ale house had settled his constant issue! Marlow, Nash, they were all great for a starting point, but there was something the old boy was missing. His words had no flow, his stories missing that spark that called to him from the depths of his quill and paper. Copies! Everything had been copies! William Shakespeare needed his name to sing off the pages, and so far they were nothing more than a flirtatious strumpet.
For days he'd kept himself looked up in his small room. No visitors, no food, just him and his work. Work that could be cast to the dogs! With a frustrated huff he'd headed out the door, stockings just barely pulled up right. The sky was beginning to turn dusky, fingers ached from nights of writing. Well, well, this deserved another pint of ale.

London was nice, and wonderful, and teeming with history. She'd spend half her days running after rumors, and finding her way in this new world. She missed home, she would always miss home, but this was how it was now.
When she spotted the young man, she paused. She could still tell who needed a guiding hand, who still needed Them. And he did. And he had a spark she could see. He only needed the right flame. With a smile she followed him and despite how it wasn't kosher to go right up to anyone and talk to them, she did. "Evening."

William stopped to see the beautiful fresh faced girl. Oh she was so otherworldly! Beautiful, natural and adoring all at the same time! He gave her a proper bow in greeting, rubbing his fingers from the ink before holding out his hand to give hers a ginger kiss.
"Evening to you, too." He paused looking up from the soft touch and releasing her hand. "I am sorry, I fear I do not know you." Though he would very much like to, as was obvious in those boyish eyes.

Cute, and charming. She did have such a weakness for that. "No you don't. Not yet." Smiling she curled her fingers around his arm, "come walk with me." It wasn't really a question. She still thought she knew better then mortal man.
"What's your name?"

A woman. This, this was a woman! She had stories within her, tales he could vision before she even asked him his name. He was pondering her history in his mind, tumbling over his own words. A pirate's daughter perhaps? A wealthy baroness who's husband had died? A princess to a foreign land, destined here to find her long lost brother! Oh, the possibilities were endless. He didn't speak a single one but shook his head, apologizing for his rude clipped tongue!
He took the arm she offered, tucking in his shirt with his other hand. At least he needed to be presentable now.
"Shakespeare." He gave her a soft smile. "William Shakespeare."

"Hm," Smiling she tugged him forward. She liked the river nearby. They could talk there. "Come on William, let's go put your name in the stars." Smiling she kept him close as they walked. Few seemed to notice her. She liked it that way.
When they came to the river she curled close. "You have a spark, but not a fire."

He let her lead him, following with keen interest as to who this woman was. There was a comfortableness as if he'd known her his entire life, though he'd never set eyes on her until today. Was it always this comfortable?
Sitting on the bank his eyes were glued to her, studying her, learning about her as the wheels continued to turn in his mind.
"No fire?! Curse it! It is but flickering, dear lady." He paused.
"What shall I call you, dark-haired beauty?"

She laughed and sat down on the grass, patting the ground beside her. "No. Not yet. But I've seen your type before. They just don't call for us anymore." Smiling she set her fingers on his cheek, giving him a bit of what she could do. "Just call me Clio, and I like you. I think I shall be your Muse. You need one. And my sisters will love you."

His eyes grew wide with anticipation, excitement and pure shock. Surely, surely this woman didn't think herself one of the sun god's Muses. Looking back into her eyes, he felt astonished and honored at the same time. There was no doubt creativity had started the flow the moment she took interest in him. Yet he had nothing to write on! She must be! He was either too gullible or completely mad!
"One of the Sun God's own?" He held his hand to his chest in a half bow. Oh he must have deserved this!

She laughed. He sure had the dramatic flair that she knew her sister's would adore. They hadn't had a writer to work on for so long. And she liked him. "No, Apollo thinks he owns us, but we're no one's but our own." She smiled to him, "and you're just what I need. I like this city, but it's needing something. You can be that."

He spent time as an actor on the stage, a true artist that took their interests and emotions to the surface. "If I am but what you need in this grand city, then I am but honored." He moved closer, not at all particular about keeping decorum. She was a beautiful girl and he was entranced like a moth to a flame!

Smiling she kissed him, not at all bothered with how she should be. She'd play that game another day. Not right here, and not with him. "Smart boy. I'm going to keep you for myself for a little bit. Then you'll meet my sisters."

She would be royalty to him, like a delicate flower he had been given. Hold it, keep it close and remember her. Her scent was subtle, that kiss just the same, tempting him from his own little world, pulled into hers.
He would pull her into his mind, they would sing together, write symphonies with words instead of notes! His kiss grew far more passionate, not proper at all. Damn anyone that said he had to be proper.

Laughing she pulled away. There was no reward without the chase, and giving in too easily would give him ideas. Smiling she kissed his nose, "hold your horses my Will. There's time and time for that." She leaned her forehead against his. "Write for me, give me something great and we'll finish this."

That taste was taken away! He looked at her breathless and the smallest bit of pink brushing his cheeks. She enticed him now she would leave him!
"You're going now?" he asked with such boyish charm.
