Sometimes Merlin liked to show off and be lazy by having the door open itself. It was always an entertaining set piece. He had a feeling here that Rosario wasn't going to be quite so taken by whimsy.
She was a smart and dedicated girl, he had to give her that. He'd looked into her a bit before she came, just to have s loot. Scholarships and a load of extra-curriculars and a killer essay had got her into a great medical course. Reading about her revealed a love of structure and diligence that he would have to work with, not against.
So all that was to say that he answered the door himself in his shirt sleeves and a vest, and step back to invite her in. "Welcome," he said warmly. "So lovely to see you. Come on through." He'd been working in the kitchen brewing up a small batch of witchy antacid, which smelled somewhat odd, like peppermint and anise and feet. Hopefully it tasted better than the odour wafting from the kitchen.
"Hang your coat in the hallway, and I'll lead your through," Merlin said. This bit, he loved. Seeing someone's face beholding the library for the first time was priceless. So he pushed open the door and setting through with a dramatic flourish.
