Luna's absence in his life meant that Merlin had been focused on other things to fulfil his social need. Heading to the club, spending a lot of time catching up on the Christmas finances, somehow acquiring two new students at once (neither of which he could pay to sleep with him), and putting chasing down that goddamn demon bitch in the too hard basket for now.
Hearing from Luna again had been quite the pleasant surprise. He hadn't wanted to disturb her from her private life while she was away, considering theirs was a relationship based on a professional transaction, but he had wondered about her from time to time. No vision dreams to fill him in either.
The house let her in happily, throwing wide the front door and closing it behind her, hugging her in as she went to where Merlin stood leaning over a book, turning to greet her and being met with a kiss.
Well now, this was delightful. Merlin held Luna close and kissed her back, and when their lips parted, he smiled warmly at her. "Well look who it is," he said, not afraid of showing how pleased he was to see her. "You're home!"
