Merlin hadn't been going to show off tonight, but the boy did deserve a bit of wonder in his life, didn't he? (Who was he kidding, of course he was going to show off. It was just a matter of picking the moment for maximum impact.)
"How about some constellations?" he asked, picking one out and making it glow brighter so Kaden could tell which one he was talking about. "The stars hold many answers if you know how to read them. Not just constellations, but planets too, and the movement of them. See Uranus there? The unenhanced eye would never notice it, but you're looking at a planet millions of miles away." He pulled the glow of the stars down towards them to fashion into a glowing star map of what they would see if clouds and street lights didn't obscure the view. "See Cygmus? And Hercules, and Lyra shining bright. The Pleiades are in optimal position in a couple of nights." He put the rotation on fastforward, and pointed out how the inner planets would rise just before sunrise.
"So you see, the stars are very special all on their own," he finished with, holding the star map for a few moments longer. "It's a pity the city obscures them so much."
