Henry considered. His heart was hammering in his chest at the idea, but at least if he freaked out and had to leave, that wasn't going to disappoint someone else. And he really wanted to be able to swim again.
"I can try it," he said, even if his voice didn't sound as strong as he wanted it to sound. He sort of melted off the chair and crawled very slowly towards the edge of the pool.
"You're doing so good already," Addy said, her cheerful little voice lifting his spirits. "You're so brave."
"Crawling on the tiles is brave?" Henry asked, even though if it had been either one of the twins doing this he would have said the same thing she had. When he reached the edge, he reached out to Iestyn. "Okay, I'm here. Just, uhm...hold my hand?" he asked, reaching out for Iestyn's hand. Then he swung his legs around and into the water slowly, breathing out a shaky breath as he did so.
