"It's always hot in here," Henry tried to explain. Really, he had been hoping by the time he got to the pool everything would magically be fine. But the second he had laid his eyes on it, that creeping sense of dread had crawled its way back into his bones.
Henry wished he could get in the water though. He loved swimming. And Iestyn and Addy loved him and they would understand if he needed help or if he couldn't do it.
Why wasn't he telling them what was going on?
It showed remarkable personal growth that Henry only denied something was wrong for a few minutes before realising he was in a safe space and no one would be annoyed with him. He could be honest. Even a few months ago he might not have said a word. "Sorry, I'm not being honest. I'm scared. Of the water. Because of Lucifer. And I thought it might be okay, but it isn't."
