"Hey I got some idea of what caution is," she said in defense of herself, but she was laughing along with him too. "No one raised by Jocelyn is unaware that caution exists. I just, y'know, choose to take a pass sometimes," she grinned cheekily, laying out the chicken on a tray to grill. "And it works out, generally. If I hadn't-" she lowered her voice a touch, so no one would overhear the H word "hitch-hiked back home then I never woulda met Johnny and Elaine and never woulda found stuff out about me and never woulda met you so like... all worked out in the end."
All sounded like it worked out even better if she glossed over the faeries and the missing three months, but it was Christmas, no need to rehash that right this moment. "They don't know 'bout the hitch-hiking," she whispered, thinking she better really make sure he didn't spill any beans. "Our secret."
