A little bit of luck with the timing, then, and a bit of nepotism— it really was who you knew, in this business, wasn't it? But Will had weight behind each of his choices, and he didn't seem to be offering her a job out of any obligation to Patrick, which mattered.
She would have taken the job even if had been given in obligation, because she needed the money, but it was good to know that at least part of his choice had to do with who she was. She didn't think Patrick would have misrepresented her (just talked her up way more than she was used to) and she liked that Will had heard what she'd been saying about building things to last. Lyra clicked her fingers at him as he mentioned their wavelength, excitement building at the chance to explore more of that. "Yes! Yes. Do you want to hear my philosophy about building codes and love?"
Excitement was maybe building... a little too fast. That was maybe not the kind of thing it was wise to say around blokey men if you wanted them to take you seriously.
