Will grinned back. It was true, of course: he was a crook and a thief, but he was an honest one, and he didn't go cheating decent people. And Lyra, she gave him the impression of a decent-hearted lass. There was summat she'd said when they'd been exchanging messages that had stuck with him: whether it was houses or tables, she'd said, when you get down to it we're still putting together something people can rely on. You could teach a person how to turn a chair leg or carve out a seat, 'specially if they already knew a thing or two about working with wood, but you couldn't make them give a damn if they didn't have it in 'em. If that was the kind of attitude she was gonna bring to the job, mayhap they could make this work.
"Suits me," he agreed with a nod. "Can't make any promises on the day-of front, but you give me a buzz if you get a job cancelled, I can let you know pretty quick if I got some work for you here. Should be plenty needs doing on the pews in January, at least. Now, you have any questions for me?"
