Ah. "Okay," Hecate said gently, hearing her try to hide what was going on from Kaden. She lay a hand over the blanket on Marcie's knee and gave it a soft squeeze, before sitting back to pop two of the pills into her hand and pass them to Marcie, bringing the cup of juice into easier reach for her too. "Take these to start with then. Kaden?"
Kaden froze even stiffer as she said his name, worried she was going to ask him why he hadn't got her painkillers already (why hadn't he got painkillers already, dumbass!) or something. Worried he must have done something wrong. But Hecate just rose and passed him her room key. "Would you be able to head down to my room and watch over Clementine for me?" she asked, her fingers lightly tapping her pocket. "I'm just on the other end of the monitor if you need anything, but I'd really appreciate it. Marcie will be just fine."
"Yeah I know she will," Kaden said, in a voice that knew nothing of the sort but refused to admit it. "I'll– yep, Clem, yep–" he said, and shot another alarmed look at Marcie over Hecate's shoulder, and then got out of there as fast (and a guiltily) as he could.
