Hecate had been dozing because Clementine was dozing, the curtains in their room pulled shut to keep out the morning sun. Before Marcie and Kaden had returned to the city, she had been spending most of her time at her Sleepy Hollow house, where it was easier to maintain her preferred nocturnal routine. Even in the city she hadn't stopped any of her nighttime habits, though being surrounded by mortals did require her to be up in the morning on a fairly regular basis. Such as now, with Kaden's name calling on her phone, but Marcie's voice on the other end. That couldn't be a good sign.
Hecate sat up in bed, already pressing the covers back. "Why, Marcie?" she asked, a soft husk to her voice which had spent most of the night singing (for Clementine) and chanting (not for Clementine.) "What's wrong?"
