The Big Mac from the McDonalds just down the street was amazing to fill the hole in his belly. Avery sat down and scarfed the entire think down, following it up with mouthfuls of fries until the wolf in his belly was no longer growling for food. As he sipped his soda to wash it down, he checked his phone to see if Lyra had replied, and she hadn't yet.
It was weird, he kind of wanted her to read it and be amazed with what he'd come up with. He was anticipating shock, awe, amazement.... maybe sex...
Wandering home, he read over his post again on his phone. It still made sense to him, he didn't even notice a typo, and by rights there should be several with how quickly he'd typed it. He even walked up the steps to his apartment looking at his phone screen and not at where he was going.
He did look, however, at how his front door was slightly ajar. Was Armaan home already? He was meant to be with his sisters tonight, and it was really unlike him to cut a family visit short. Cautiously, he pushed the door open and stepped in.
The almost-empty soda cup hit the floor, and Avery could only stare and blink, a scream of OH FUCK OH FUCK OH FUCK on a loop in his brain.
