"You should put in the saint's blood thing, too," Rosario said. "You know your dad's a saint, you're tryna find out which one. And, yeah, then the stuff about how your mom met him, and... see what he says?"
Send the email. See what comes back. Maybe, hopefully, depending on what he says, set up a meeting. It was the start of a plan, concrete actions towards a concrete objective, and Rosario needed that scaffolding more than ever before.
But even as the thought entered her head, she knew it wasn't exactly right. It was only half a plan. And if Lyra could be brave enough to reach out to her maybe-dad, then Rosario needed to screw up her courage and face hers.
So as Lyra tapped out the message on her phone, Rosario opened her notebook to a new page and began writing.

She leaned back from the page when she was done, casting an eye down the short checklist. It was only a start. It wasn't gonna answer everything, and maybe it wouldn't give her any answers at all, but... it was doable. Everything on this list was a thing she could do, even if the last two she wasn't sure she wanted to, and knowing that felt a little bit like taking control.
Rosario sucked in a breath and looked up at Lyra. "I'm gonna text Archer, too. He keeps bugging me about this dumb interview... I'mma take him up on it. See what I can find out."
