"You're right," Elaine said, coming back over and setting the small basket on the table. She set her hand on John's shoulder, (engagement ring sparkling on her finger,) standing to the side of him as she talked. "Some sort of hereditary talent or affinity. You won't be brimming with magic or anything I'm afraid, and you certainly won't be immortal. And it most definitely depends on the parent." She looked down at John and gave him a warm little smile. "One day you will know our children," she added softly, her eyes going soft and loving.
