There was stuff between Avery and Xander, no mistake, and not stuff to be aired now, obviously, but it was stuff Lyra wanted to know about eventually. She'd ask him, one day, what his whole story was with his family, what was it that meant they all didn't get on. As messy as her own family could feel sometimes, Lyra couldn't imagine not talking to them, not liking them. That was pretty big, really, the kinda emptiness that might leave in a person's life.
But one day, not now. For now she looked right into Avery's eyes, then had to nudge his foot with hers to get him to look at her too. "I got the friends I need right here," she said, her jaw firm and a challenge against the world in her eyes as she looked from him to Rosario. Yeah just try ripping her away from Rosario and Avery, world! Lyra was gonna hold onto them both with all she had. Avery who believed her, Rosario who loved her unconditionally. If she could just blend those two traits in everyone she gave a shit about, she'd never have to worry bout anyone leaving her ever again.
