WHO: Lyra, Rosario and Avery WHEN: Thursday after classes WHERE: A cafe near campus WHAT: The Goldenhawk Investigation Squad WARNINGS: Probably none
It hadn't been very hard to convince Avery to come along, though Lyra was a little curious (but wasn't gonna ask) about whether he'd agreed purely cos he wanted to meet Archer's lab-partner and their spy-on-the-inside, or if it was her he was eager to see again. Maybe that was an adolescent kinda thought, but didn't crushes have a way of dialing a person back a few years?
Well— whatever. Lyra tried to tell herself it wasn't important, how much he might wanna see her again. She'd told herself this even while squeezing into her tightest pants.
Rosario had been a little more reluctant, but Lyra was very good at wheedling. She wanted Rosario to see Avery as a real person and not just some conspiracy theorist from the internet. She wanted the three of them to be a team. The world was absolutely, completely nutty and they needed to be a team to figure it all out, dammit!
The place was also busy enough that it wasn't going to be silent, and since it was a board game cafe Lyra figured they were used to flights of fancy; anyone who overheard them talking about anything weird would probably assume they were talking some niche anime. Besides, the tables were all big enough you could spread out a very generous sized board game, so the two people with the biggest personal space bubbles Lyra knew weren't going to end up crammed into a booth, trying not to touch shoulders.
She thought she'd done really well.
The only problem was that Lyra was currently two city blocks away from Nat20 having a frantic discussion with Hailey, and that she was too deep in the conversation to notice when it went four thirty, which was exactly the time she'd told Avery and Rosario she'd be there.
