WHO: Henry claus, Iestyn Ceredig WHEN: Wednesday afternoon WHERE: Hospital WHAT: More coherent chats WARNINGS: TBA
In the past few days Henry had been visited by family and friends, even though he hadn't been awake for long during the visits, and the drugs kept him from being able to focus on one topic for long. Henry had been so relieved to see Gabriel as well. His guardian angel had been close by every day and for that Henry was grateful. What Henry wasn't grateful for, was the doctors doing more tests and confirming he was now a paraplegic. He was never going to walk again. The social worker had visited him a few times, talking to him about grief and ways to cope.
At the moment Iestyn walked in, Henry was sitting upright thanks to the tilt of the hospital bed. A physical therapist was telling Henry it was important to have someone move his legs, lest the muscles cramp which could be incredibly painful. He had the blankets pushed aside and he was lifting and moving Henry's leg while Henry laid there and tried not to show his emotions on his face. He felt helpless and stupid and he hated having to have someone else do this for him. The therapist smiled at Iestyn and said, without even asking Henry, "hello, are you Henry's partner? I could show you what I'm doing here so you can do it for him."
Henry looked dismayed. "You- You don't have to do that," he said to Iestyn.
