“We’ll catch up soon, maybe have a beer or two,” Little John had said to Will, as he dropped him and Clio and Ella back at their place. It has been a mild enough suggestion, but he had seen the panic written all over Will when the three of them had slipped through Elaine's door a couple of days ago, he wanted to check in properly, see how he was coping when he didn’t have a little kid around to be strong and reassuring for. Besides, stepping out of the world, even for a short while, could be a tad disorientating. Little John knew that feeling well. Beers with Stutely were well in order. Just one or two.
Meantime, though.
Meantime, Little John walked back up the path toward Elaine, giving her a smile as warm as a clear summer's day. He stepped into those waiting arms and hoisted her up, spinning her around a full circle before setting her back on her feet, and kissing her. "Well that's that," he said. "Everyone back where they rightly belong once again." The angel was back watching over Will and his family, the Sheriff was still in his odd little prison, and Elaine was back in his arms, everyone where they were supposed to be.
