Kaden watched her drag the mattress in and set it up without saying anything, because the only thing he really wanted to say was that he probably wasn't going to sleep much anyway. Part of him thought it would be better if he went and tried to sleep in the car. He didn't want to wake up in the middle of the night thinking that the breathing in the room belonged to anyone else. He knew he was going to. That he was going to lie there in the dark for a long time turning everything over in his head and listening to Adrian breathe and thinking about - oh no, but fuck, he had headphones.
Kaden extracted himself off the chair and stepped over the mattress, grabbing his headphones from the bedside table and pressing one into his ear, pressing the plug into his phone. Reaching the wall socket to charge his phone would be a pain from the mattress, but maybe his battery would last longer than he would. Wasn't much he could do about it, at any rate. "Kay," he muttered, without looking at Marcie. "Now m'good."
Well, not 'good', obviously. Nothing was good. But whatever. He'd live.
