There was way less blame being thrown around than he expected, and maybe it would all be coming tomorrow or maybe Marcie really would be as chill as he'd optimistically promised Adrian. Kaden wasn't really sure what was going to happen. Adrian was mouthing his seatbelt like it was jerky, and Kaden watched this odd bit of behavior as Cathal and Marcie got themselves sorted in the front seat, then looked down at his phone. Connie had messaged, hoping they were alright, and all of Kaden went hot and cold at once. He shoved the phone back into his pocket, leaving it unread.
Had he really been making out with Connie just before Adrian started throwing up? Why did that make him feel like he wanted to scream? Kaden took a few short sharp breaths, fighting the compulsion. Don't freak out. Don't freak out in the back of Cathal's car. Don't do it.
He looked up, realised that Marcie had asked him something, and stared at her for a second in the mirror, before he had to ask, "What?"
