She was coming, Kaden thought in a desperate rush of relief, not realising how heavy the fear that he was on his own again was till it had been pried off him. This time, Marcie was coming. "I will, I promise— I— I'm gonna look after him, Marcie," he said, kneeling down beside Adrian again, knowing if he could look after a baby he could look after Adrian. "See y'soon," he hung up, shoving his phone into his back pocket as Adrian turned to him, disgruntled look on his face.
"He threw up again," said Connie in a small voice, pointing at the evidence from where she stood just outside the splash zone on Adrian's other side. "Tara had to— she can't handle sick..." she pointed toward the house, too, where Tara had obviously gone. Connie was pale, too; Tara wasn't the only one who couldn't handle sick.
"Marcie's gonna come get us," Kaden said. Adrian muttered an 'noooo' and pressed his sleeve over his mouth, and Kaden gave him a pat on the shoulder and said "She'll be chill," hoping that she would, in fact, be chill. She'd looked after Tragos when he was hurt, which was... not even as self inflicted as this. Kaden felt himself mentally stagger again at the fresh thought of Tragos, and fair or not, it stung that Adrian had a sibling who'd come get him, that Adrian didn't know what it was like to be alone and in trouble hundreds of miles from help.
Not that he wanted Adrian to go through that, but - it still stung. Didn't meant he was gonna leave Adrian's side though, not till Marcie got here, not after, neither.
