It was very hard not to try to get a little cheeky and charm the three people lined up behind the dull table, but Will behaved himself and didn't do it. He contented himself just with having a cheerful attitude- although not too cheerful as to seem as it he wasn't taking this seriously. Because he certainly was.
It wasn't until the sound of the door being opened again drew his attention that he realised that he was free. They'd approved him, considered his time served (although they would still check in from time to time). He stood up, feeling kind of lightheaded, and couldn't turn and look at his family until they were all out in the hallway together again. And then he smiled, bright and wide, with relief.
