Iestyn paused a long moment, then said, "In six days, it will be a year since Addy and I were taken. Leading up to that, we spent months where all we thought about was our personal safety. I still am alert for danger, everywhere I go. I know it isn't fair, but..." He heaved a sigh and laced his fingers together between his knees. "I hate thinking of you being so... troubled, and vulnerable. I wish I could go back and protect you from it somehow. And I feel angry that anybody would take advantage of you when you were like that. They shouldn't have done that. They shouldn't have hurt you." The corners of his mouth turned down. Maybe they weren't so far apart after all, they just had different ways of dealing with their pain.
