"It put up a brief fight," Hecate said, with a small smile, and crouched down to pull at a tendril of ivy that caught her eye. "I have some lemonade inside," she said, but didn't move toward it because the ivy was turning into a much thicker vine as she took to her hands and knees and followed it through to its root. Serene, thrilled that Hecate was down at her level, hit her with an enthusiastic body slam and Hecate hugged her, murmuring praise in her ear.
