"A dog," Genesis said warmly, picturing the one she wanted in her mind as Beti led her in and down the stairs. (The stairs were a surprise, but Genesis rolled with it. Or, in fact, tried not to 'roll' with it.)
"I've been having this reoccurring dream about a big black dog." Genesis realised this was the second time in their short conversation she'd mentioned reoccurring dreams, and she knew it might have made her seem a little strange to Beti. "It's so slender and sleek, tall ears, long snout, a really beautiful dog. I know this maybe sounds like I'm a crazy person who thinks her dreams mean something, but I think my subconscious is just dog-starved." Or maybe it just wanted something to love that had to love her back.
