Hecate couldn't feel the power in the paper, Morgan was right there, but experience told her exactly what they were, and she guessed accurately at what Morgan planned to do with them. In the back, Kaden had curled up beside the baby seat and was all but out of sight between it, and the huge bulk of Hecuba. He stayed low, and quiet, and Hecate couldn't tell if he was asleep or not but she hoped he was, he needed his rest.
She needed her rest, too, and the pale green potion only encouraged it. Underneath her, the seat felt like a feather bed, the warm air from the car heater felt like a cozy, roaring fire. The potion wasn't the only thing adding to her comfort - she no longer felt pulled apart as she had on the other side of the border. Her magic hadn't come rushing back to meet her - that would have been too much to hope for - but the quietening of the warning voice in the back of her head saying get out get out - flee this place - flee was a huge relief. "I hope you weren't counting on any scintillating conversation for the next few miles," she said, blearily, and her body was taken over by a huge yawn.
