"Not him," Marcie replied, looking around at Melpomene again. "I don't want him. Kaden. Where is Kaden? What did you do to Kaden?" She looked up at Ares and clenched her jaw, staring him down. Ares frowned back at her. He was going to give her nothing, and he shrugged, until she grabbed his arm.
“He got what he deserved,” Ares said with a growl, shaking the woman off his arm, but she was back in a moment, keeping hold of him.
“What did you do??” she demanded. A fire was igniting in her guts, that absolute fury she’d felt after Kaden had hung up the first time mixed with the fear and the helplessness of the second phone call, and the rage at what these stupid boys had done. “Tell me! TELL ME!”
“Get off,” Ares said with annoyance, and when she didn’t, he gritted his teeth and snapped at her. “This is your last chance!”
Marcie let go of him and turned towards Melpomene, appealing to her, but there was a second dog she'd forgotten about who appeared out from behind the sofa and growled at her, making her recoil. Ares laughed darkly.
"Ask him where your precious thief is," he said, and Marcie turned white, remembering Kaden and Tragos talking about Apollo's threats- ripping out his throat...
