Truth be told, there was something a little strange about being on her knees in front of Ares and not pairing the act with something sexual. She'd noticed that glance toward his own crotch, and if there'd been any suggestive quirk of his lips, or that dark look of hunger in his eyes, she wouldn't have hesitated to reach forward and unbuckle his belt. She would have pushed all thoughts of exhaustion and discomfort aside to please him tonight.
But the nod gave her a small thrill too. It implied he would indeed call on her for something in the future and gods Melpomene needed something she understood in her future. Where everything else was clouded in uncertainty, this wasn't, he wasn't. Nothing about Ares was uncertain. No one fucked with him and got away with it, there was a reliable clarity to that.
Kaden may still be alive, though. The uncertainty rolled back in around her, swift as sea fog, as she rose back to her feet. And perhaps it was irrational to be scared right now, when there was no way he'd be able to try anything, she still was. Melpomene curled up tight on the couch, looking down into the portacot and watching Telos sleep. "Will you drive us back tomorrow?" she asked, feeling both like she was asking too much, but a little afraid not too. She wanted the protection of his presence; no one would try and fuck with Telos when he was around. No one would pin her onto a bed with their hand over her mouth when he was around.
It didn't matter that the people who had done those things were dead or almost-dead, she still didn't want him to take off in his own car and leave her alone. She didn't want to put herself through another nine hour mental breakdown but this time with thoughts of Kaden's-still-alive-maybe. Her heart was in her throat just thinking about it. "I'll take care of Telos while you drive... I can tell Apollo to come and fetch my car. Will you?"
